Set on the edge of Olympic Plaza, this fashionable restaurant is the place to see and be seen in town. Its residence in the historic Dominion Bank building grants Teatro elegant period architecture, along with a more clean-lined decor that serves as its foil. The cuisine is Italian in intent, supplemented by seasonal Canadian ingredients. Pastas, seafood, meat dishes, pizzas, and antipasti comprise the menu; among the delicacies you'll find are terrine of duck foie gras, lobster-and-scallop lasagna, apple wood-roasted salmon, rack of lamb, veal cheeks, and dry-aged rib-eye. Everything is sublime, from the service to the wine list and the sinful desserts. Naturally, you'll pay for the experience, but it's one you won't want to miss, and it's absolutely worth it. One of the city's best.

Teatro has wonderful atmosphere and a dying reputation as one of the city’s best restaurants. Our party of 4 went for dinner and chose the chef’s large tasting menu and wine for $800.00 before tip. At that price I do expect the food to be excellent and with each course the diner awaits in anticipation for something that wows the senses not disappoints the senses. The food was not terrible but wasn’t great. The service was very disappointing. It was slow when it existed and our waiter did not seem very knowledgeable or interested in explaining our courses as they came out. I have had very good fine dining experiences elsewhere in Calgary, so I will not be back to Teatro.

Short Story: Don't go there.
Long story: We had booked a group for 20 people for a 3 course meal at a set price of 70$. We called back to confirm and they told us no and that it would be atleast 85-110$ a person. This is after we had booked and agreed on a price, and had 20 people plan thier night around this for a special event. The manager was extreamly rude when we tired to resolve the problem, and basiclay said we want to charge you more money or we are canceling your reservation. So obiously with service like that I canceled and went eleswhere. As for the food i was taken out by work there a was not overly impressed, i really did expect better. For about 60$ for lunch plus alcohol I recommend some where eles, my meat was over done the rest was good but not anything special considering it is fine dinning I expected a little more. The service was very slow and snoody. The atmosphere is nice, but overall it has been a bad experience. There is alot of good places in calgary with better food and better service.

Expecting the best of the best, I was up for a big fall. While the atmosphere was perfect, the food was cold and the waiter was barely around to take our order, which made the expense of the whole experience seem outrageous. While I am sure others have had fabulous meals, I will not be recommending the restaurant to anyone I know.
