Excellent Food and Service!
My husband and I have eaten at the Newport Grill a few times. We love the atmosphere and have always enjoyed our meals. Service has always been excellent, although we always go early to avoid crowds. We don't drink much, so avoid alcohol, however I've noted the prices of wine, etc. at Newport are in line with other top restaurants in Calgary.

Reviewer #2 should get out more (or maybe just stay home)!! $35. for a half bottle of wine in a restaurant is not that expensive. I used to work in the restaurant industry and even back then it wasn't that expensive. I would suggest maybe this reviewer doesn't have the type of financial budget to allow for dining out or should maybe stick to cheaper eateries. This is a fine dining restaurant. If you can't afford it...don't go..but don't blame the restaurant.

My visit to the Inn on Lake Bonavista was extremely grand. The food was absolutely delicious. The servers were very polite, especially this one boy Peter. It was a joy to dine at this restaurant and I hope many go there to have a fantastic brunch!

Live in Lake Bonavista and been to the Inn many times. Waited many months to go back following renovation. Went to Newport Grill - asked for 1/2 litre of wine with dinner; asked if they had a 'house wine' because we'd ordered this many times before at the old "Inn". Waitress suggested a chardonnay, we said "sure" but didn't check the menu (it was really dark and we were on the patio). She brought a 1/2 "bottle". Liked it and because assumed house wine would be a reasonable price, ordered another. Got the bill and wine was $70. $35 each for 1/2 bottle. Yes, that's HALF. We know this wine is around $12 in the liquor store. Felt VERY ripped off and, sadly, won't go back. Food and presentation was good, but there are many other excellent restaurants that have great food and wine...and you don't have to take out a mortgage to have wine with your dinner. Really disappointed...
