More about Cambridge
Cambridge rests on the banks of the scenic Rum River and has experienced somewhat of a population growth in recent years—at least in terms of small-town expansion. The modest influx of new residents relies mainly on Cambridge's development as a small town with resort-town appeal. Like many of its neighbors, an array of outdoors activities plays a big role in the city's draw. City Park, which is made up of West and East River Parks, includes riverfront walking paths and several recreational facilities, and visitors can find the best paved bicycling paths at Brown and Bridgewater Parks. Visitors with a palate for entertainment will enjoy the city's new performing arts center, which has hosted everything from US Navy Band performances to ballets. Downtown restaurants, such as Culver's and Embers Main Street Grill, receive the most attention from diners. As quaint town attracting more and more affluent residents, Cambridge is well on its way to becoming not such a small town after all.
Cambridge Facts
Fact 1: Though New England settlers founded it in 1866 (thus the very inconspicuous New England name), Cambridge's population actually experienced its first population boost from Swedish immigrants. The staunch, hearty working class of these newcomers played a large role in building the city's first industrial businesses.
