6. Laundress Green

This is one of the smallest of all the common areas in Cambridge. Set on an island in the center of the River Cam, the grounds have become a popular spot for students, visitors and families enjoying an afternoon in the sun. There is usually an ice-cream vendor or two, and a popular idea is to buy a sandwich from the local bakery and eat it while looking over the water.
