Founded in 1920, this museum commemorates Captain Scott and his cohorts who died after reaching the North Pole in 1912. The various displays exhibit diaries, photos, and journals from their numerous journeys of Arctic and Antarctic territories. The institute in which the museum is housed has become an international center for studies of the Polar Region, with a large library and resources center open to the interested public on prior request. There are various post cards and souvenirs available for sale from the reception desk.
