In 1669, Charles II bought this Jacobean manor for a sum of £50,000. Visitors may tour more than 30 rooms of this mansion and experience what it must have been like to live in the midst of these grand surroundings. The majority of the decor dates back to the 18th and 19th centuries and includes numerous works of art and an elaborately decorated dollhouse. The gardens were designed by Capability Brown and are enjoyable to view. Guided tours are available and there is a good self-service restaurant and tea room. 15 miles SE of Cambridge.
