Trinity College, founded by Henry VIII in 1546, is the richest college in Cambridge and provides fascinating insight into University life. Visitors can see the Ante-Chapel, Chapel, Great Court, Hall, and Nevile's Court. The Hall is open only 3pm-5pm as students still use this as a dining area. The Wren Library was designed by famed architect Christopher Wren, who gave it as a gift to Trinity College. Four noticeable statues rest on the library's roof, symbolizing the studies of Divinity, Law, Physics and Mathematics. Inside, you can find more than 50,000 books that were printed in the early 19th century and more than 2000 volumes of manuscripts. The manuscript of "Winnie the Pooh" is housed here, as the author A. A. Milne and his son, Christopher Robin, were Trinity alumni. Trinity College operates a punt hire system for members of the public – ask at the lodge for details.
