1. Abbaye Notre Dame de Lerins

One of the biggest draws on the Île Saint-Honorat, this abbey is one of the oldest Christian monasteries in existence. Founded in the third century AD by Saint Honorat, an order of Cistercian monks still lives there today. In the gorgeous, waterside setting of this peaceful island, the monastery imparts a feeling of serenity for all that visit.
