4. Île Sainte-Marguerite

The sister island of Saint-Honorat, Sainte-Marguerite is larger, with three restaurants and a maritime museum for visitors to enjoy. Beautiful rocky beaches and majestic pines and oaks make this a great place to view nature, or visitors can head to the fort that was built to protect the island from the Spanish in the 1600's. A cell in the fort is said to have once held the mythical "Man in the Iron Mask," whose identity remains a mystery.   (© 10Best)
