This magnificent castle, surrounded by a lake, rests on hundreds of acres of parkland. The history of this structure covers virtually 1,200 years. It began as a Norman fortress and then evolved into a palace for Henry VIII. Until 1974, the castle was a family residence. Today, visitors can tour various rooms in the castle and see numerous displays of historic art, furniture, and draperies. Additional attractions at Leeds Castle include a garden maze, an aviary, a golf course, and a museum of antique dog collars.
