6. Hoover Historical Center

Housed in a Victorian farmhouse that was once the dwelling of the founder of the Hoover Company, this one-of -a-kind museum is dedicated to the advancements of the vacuum cleaner, the man behind this household masterpiece and numerous other inventions from the same industrious man. Exhibits included in this establishment feature items that Hoover invented during WWII (like helmets and helmet linings), examples of the manual Kotten suction vacuum (where the vacuum operator had to stand on the machine and rock to get it to suction) and modern-day Hoover products like the Self-Propelled WindTunnel upright. Additional attractions found here include beautifully manicured gardens, frequent special events and a gift shop. Reservations are requested for groups larger than 10 people.   (© 10Best)
