4. Bender's Tavern

Staff and service were Excellent! BUT the food is way overpiced. For the price, I expect Chef prepared food. The recipes are from a chef but they are not prepared by one. Stuffed Flounder (small filet wrapped around crab stuffing w/ a creamy sauce) was too salty and the Bender's Fries (a small side plate of thinly sliced, pan-fried potatoes) had grease all over them and the plate. I can say the salad was very good. After $25 a plate and what I received in food quality and quantity, I was disappointed.

Benders is old-school dining at its' best and the service is excellant. In an age when most restaraunts operater out of a freezer, Benders serves seafood trucked in fresh from Boston three times a week. I am seldom there without an owner coming to my table to check and confirm that everything is up to snuff. The Camp Kagel Walleye Pickerel is legondary. I will add that I was recently at the near-by Canton Club that seeks to compete with Benders and once you get past the fantastic decor and view from the 14th floor, the food and service can not touch the standard established and maintained at Bender's Tavern. Benders is the standard for comparison par excellance!
