It was in September of 1920 that a meeting was held in the Hupmobile auto showroom, belonging to Canton Bulldogs owner Ralph Hay. This meeting resulted in the beginning of professional football, and it eventually produced the National Football League.

Ida Saxton McKinley, the wife of the 25th President of the United States, was born in Canton, Ohio on June 8, 1847.
