One of the oldest areas of the city, Plaza Bolívar, named for the famed Simón Bolívar, El Libertador, is a pleasant spot that anchors much of the old colonial area. Many notable sites surround this area, sites of political and historic interest and also a number of shopping, dining and entertainment options.
