4. New Theatre

Home of the Welsh National Opera, the New Theatre hosts a variety of shows and performances, including drama, opera, ballet and musicals. This Edwardian-style complex opened in 1906 and has been at the forefront of the Cardiff cultural movement ever since. Among the "names" who have appeared here are Sir Laurence Olivier, Sir Anthony Hopkins, and Laurel and Hardy. There's a great coffee shop and restaurant, open 11am-2pm Mon-Sat.   (© 10Best)
