Located on the waterfront near the harbour, Cardiff's eye-catching Norwegian Church Arts Centre is now a wonderful venue for concerts, exhibitions and other cultural events. Highlights of the building itself include exposed trusses, round windows set in gables, and a Gothic stained glass window. Founded in 1867 as a place of worship for visiting seamen from Scandinavia, the building fell upon hard times and was deconsecrated in 1970. It was rebuilt and moved to its current waterfront location in 1992. Children's literature writer Roald Dahl, who was born in Cardiff, was baptized here as a child. There is a sweet coffee shop (Konditori) serving Scandinavian-style drinks and snacks.
