St. John's Church is Cardiff's only surviving medieval church. Its immaculate tower, which stands well over 100 feet high, was built in the 15th century, but the original church dates back to the 12th century and is the second oldest building in Cardiff after the castle. St. John's is one of Cardiff's most photographed landmarks but it's also worth popping inside to see the stained-glass windows. The church holds regular organ recitals. There is a tea room open Wed-Sat in the vestry. The tower is open to visitors on several Saturdays each year; check website or call for details.
