Located on Hadrian's Wall, this fascinating Roman fort details the history of Birdoswald, beginning with the Roman epoch. Take a walk around this structure and you will see some of the most dramatic views in the Borderland as the River Eden flows by. Next to this spot is one of the most amazing sections of Hadrian's Wall, which was built by the Roman Emperor Hadrian around 122 AD. Approximately two miles along the wall is the quaint village of Gilsland.
