6. The Other Place

DOWNTOWN.   This hangout has been a favorite with University of Northern Iowa students since it opened in 1970. Since that time, its winning combination of food, friends and fun has allowed it to expand to locations throughout Iowa and Kansas. The Other Place originally served pizza and the pies that made them popular are still available. These days diners also enjoy fresh salads, hot subs and pasta dishes.   (© 10Best)
