8. Elaine's on Franklin

EXCELLENT
I celebrated my 76th birthday with my companion and a friend. The food was excellent--trendy and imaginative in a nice way--and so was the wine. Service was efficient and unobtrusive. I had the cream of asparagus soup, the duck confit, and a very nice dessert; the other two diners ordered two appetizers and dessert. We were all very pleased with the taste, the quality, and the presentation of our dishes. The wine was excellent and reasonably priced. We have dined at Elaine's four or five times in the past year--especially for special occasions --and never been disappointed.
