Details: East Cameron Ave, Chapel Hill, NC 27599 One of the campus's architectural gems, the Playmakers Theatre was constructed in 1851. Designed in the Greek Revival style, the theatre is adorned with Corinthian columns. However the capitals are embellished with corn and wheat rather than acanthus leaves, reflecting a strong patriotic sentiment. Throughout its history, the building has been used as a library, theatre and even a horse stable during the Civil War. Although it no longer houses the Playmakers Repertory Company, it is still used for other campus performances. Website: |
