9. Palmetto Carriage Works

We got ripped off on price of the combo ticket!! We were going to sign up with another company, but a Palmetto employee at a curb side cart convinced me to pay $2.50 more per ticket for Palmetto (I had a party of 4), telling me that their captain of their ship would take us on a longer harbor cruise. He said the average cruise on other lines was 1 hour and 20 minutes, while theirs was closer to 2 hours, and that should be worth the extra $10.00 for my party. So he convinced me and we went with Palmetto. well, guess what? The harbor cruise only lasted 1 hour and 20 minutes!! It was the exact same cruise as the other companies. I went back to the salesman and told him. He just said he was sorry, but that he couldn't do anything about it. I hate being ripped off like that and think that it is not good business. Therefore, I would caution anyone getting a combo ticket to go with another company. The carriage ride , I have to admit, was wonderful and the tour guide was terrific (a little red haired girl who was a theater major in college and even sang for us). However, at least one other company will reduce their fare of $32.00 by another $2.00 per ticket if you just tell them you called and listened to their voice mail message. I'm sure I could have had a great experience with another carriage company for $10.00 cheaper!!!

I've had better tours!
I have takens several tours in Charleston, but this one was very dissapointing. The guide was from "Ohio" and had an attitude. We also had great difficulty hearing him. Won't be going on this one again.
