DOWNTOWN. Built in the mid-1700s by John Rutledge, a signer of the US Constitution, this lovely home was thoroughly restored and fashioned into an inn during the early 1990s. Located in the heart of Charleston's historic, shopping and dining districts, the inn features 19 elegantly appointed guest rooms, each with period antiques and/or historically accurate reproductions. A complimentary Continental breakfast is delivered directly to your room, and the inn offers afternoon wine or sherry and nightly turndown service.

DOWNTOWN. Once owned by Edward Rutledge, former governor of SC and a signer of the Declaration of Independence, the inn opened in 1998. It fast became one of the best places to stay while visiting Charleston. Elegantly appointed rooms, common areas, and sweeping verandas are accompanied by discerning Southern hospitality and charm. Built in 1760.

Its guests delight in well-furnished rooms, which feature demi-canopied bed, cable television, telephone, and dataport. DOWNTOWN. This stunning Queen Anne home was constructed in 1892 as a wedding gift from merchant George Williams to his daughter. The home maintains most of its original details, like Tiffany stained-glass windows, ornate carved English oak woodwork, and crystal chandeliers. Nine elegant guest rooms are furnished with antiques, queen-size canopy or four-poster beds, and private bath. Most have a fireplace, and some have a private balcony and telephone. Complimentary "Southern Continental" breakfast served daily. Children over 12 are welcome.

Especially when the weather is nice, visit the rooftop bar and restaurant, which offers spectacular views of the city and the harbor.
