DOWNTOWN.   This appealing brasserie practically recreates Paris in the Lowcountry. Its warm decor, zinc bar, and even an outdoor terrace speak of Gallic comforts, and the food follows suit beautifully. Traditional – and affordable! – fare includes such classics as steak frites, steamed mussels, duck confit, escargots, and bouillabaisse. A great burger is also a strong draw. Incredible edible french cuisine!!!!! The hopsitality was splendid! I had escargot, rabbit and white chocolate mousse torte!!!! It was incredible!!! I don't remember the last time I have had such a unique and wonderful meal!

I have been to Rue De Jean many times,and have had a very satisfying experience each time. The ambience is so comfortable, yet the quality of everything, from the food and service to the cocktails reminds one that he/she is in a special place, gaining a quality experience. Not only does this restaurant "take you there", it provides a uniqueness (sushi, in a French bistro!) that has set a standard in Charleston, for which I, as a South Carolinian who visits Charleston regularly, am deeply grateful!
