My friends and I are from Tennessee and decided to stop in Southend Brewery while we were in Charleston on vacation. I am a huge beer lover and Southend's Double IPA ranked among the top 3 best beers I have ever had. I tried the brown ale, the scarlet, and the stout as well and all were excellent. Well I wasn't expecting a brewery to have top-quality food as well, but my group was pleasantly surprised: We shared the calamari, the nachos, a Margherita pizza, and the Pork Tenderloin and each one was delightful! The atmosphere of Southend Brewery is rustic but still very nice: an old 3 story building with a full brewery in the middle, white linens on all the tables, and some of the locals say it is haunted. In my opinion, it was just perfect for an evening of relaxing and good times!

Beer Lover
I made the mistake of stopping by the Southend Brewery with my family back in early August. Get this; they were out of practically every beer they say they make. When asked why their brewery was out of beer, the server gave the lame excuse that their brewer was on vacation the week before! Upon further inspection, it was clear that this place is on its way out of business. The premises is filthy from the dining room to the restrooms. The carpeting was so disgusting they don't even need to hand you a menu as you can see exactly what they offer by looking at the floor. My table of 8 decided to get up and leave and pass on the whole food poisoning experience. PLEASE, somebody put this place out of its misery and put a solid brewpub in its place. A great city like Charleston needs a great brewery.
