DOWNTOWN.   This very modern and elegant restaurant has been a favorite of both locals and visitors for years. The friendly staff serves up sophisticated and sumptuous Southern dishes and desserts that are far too good to pass up. There's a vibrant bar scene here, so plan on coming early and, perhaps, staying late.   (© 10Best)

This one is everybody's favorite. Make a meal of the homemade potato chips (with crumbled blue cheese and scallions), and the Down South egg roll (stuffed with collard greens, chicken, and tasso, and served with red pepper puree, spicy mustard sauce, and peach chutney). The entrées are just as inventive. (from Southern Living)

great food, it was worth the wait. The seashell grits were great.

Fantastic restaurant! The atmosphere is great - quiet, cozy, lovely decor. The service was impeccable. And the food was amazing! I started with a bowl of tomato bisque (out of this world) and then for entree the best grilled pork chop I've ever eaten. I would highly recommend Magnolia's, and I will definitely be returning there.

If you're looking for a true Southern gourmet meal and good service, Magnolia's is the place to go in Charleston. I've eaten here many times over the years, and 2 weeks ago they delivered again! We ate brunch there Saturday morning, and the fried egg and ham sandwich with dijonnaise was exquisite, joy in the mouth. Bloody Marys and mimosas are also served. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and she kept our glasses filled at all times. I'm so happy to see a downtown staple still doing well. My only complaint is that they played cheesy Christmas music; Handel's Messiah would do or some nice carols, but it was like Mariah Carey kind of stuff. Ick.
