DOWNTOWN.
At this contemporary bistro and bar, diners may opt for traditional table seating or mingle with other guests at a community table. Flexibility and innovation also characterize the kitchen, which offers a bar menu and small plates in addition to its fabulous main courses. An artisanal cheese plate or sweet vidalia onion tart provides the perfect introduction to FIG's cuisine, and you won't want to stop there. For dinner, spring for the braised lamb with potato goat cheese gratin and morels, or the delicate triggerfish with green olive salsa verde and fennel salad. Sophisticated wine list.

We had eaten at a few other restaurants in Charleston and then we found Fig. I had been walking, we had a reservation for McCrady's. I found Fig's bar on my walk and decided to have a martini. I had a seat at the bar and was kindly taken care of with a delicious Hendricks martini up with a twist of lemon. Asked if I'd like to look at the menu, I said yes and called my companion. We cancelled our McCrady's appointment. We had a delicious meal sitting at the bar. Service was great and we met people on both sides of us (all of us travelers)... good conversation, great, interesting plates, good wine, good service... and then what made it even better... this place is located on the back of the building where we stayed... a dog friendly hotel called the Indigo Inn... which was also terrific with a fantastic "hunt" style breakfast, which was good coffee and just made biscuits, cheese and ham... very nice!
