MARKET.   Set in a charming little historic house, Cru Cafe is usually packed with locals who enjoy the stylishly casual ambience and chef-owner (and Cordon Bleu graduate) John Zucker's amazingly inventive fare. Lunch options hit the mark – try the heaping Chinese chicken salad, a massive black angus burger, or the unique BLT piled high with shrimp. At dinner, small plates of walnut-stuffed baked brie or fried oysters are ideal precursors to sizzling steaks, seared duck or Thai seafood risotto. A couple of blocks off the beaten path, at the corner of Pinckney and Anson, it's less touristy than most places you'll find around the Market.   (© 10Best)

excellent cuisine in cozy setting
I have enjoyed lunch and dinner at Cru Cafe several times and have been very impressed with everything brought to the table. As for the previous review about not taking reservations..they're sorely confused and unfortunately missed out on an awesome and unique dining experience. I have reservations for later today and can't wait! The staff are friendly and I have yet to step foot through the door without being cordially greeted and checked on by the Chef/Owner. Must Go!

Booked -- what about reservations?
My husband and I specifically sought out Cru Cafe for an early dinner while visiting recently. We were aware that they don't accept reservations, and were quite disappointed to find out at 6:30 that -- according to their hostess -- they were booked solid until 9:30 that night. Needless to say, we never made it to the food...
