Recently revisited - for the last time
Been coming to this restaurant for about 15 years. It used to have fabulous, famous she crab soup and great service. I remember a time they opened for lunch especially for me and a friend who was hungry when all the other restaurants had closed. Well, all that will have to remain a memory. Went this weekend with a friend who was short on cash. We were told to park in the garage across the street; told there would be no charge. When we arrived, we asked if we had parked in the correct garage. Told we were, we were surprised and upset to get an additional $6 at the end of the evening. My meal was disappointing - a fish stew that was palatable with the hot sauce I requested. The old fabulous soup arrived cod and congealed. 82 Queen must be riding on its old rep, because it doesn't merit a good one any more. We will not return. The memories of the good old days here are much less expensive and more worthwhile!

I made a reservation 10 months in advance for dinner after my daughter's graduation from College of Charleston. I specifically asked for outside seating and did not get it depsite being the first one in the book for that date. There were multiple tables available as we were escorted through the couryard. Service was marginal. The food was pedestrian, The price was not. The she crab soup, a house speciality, was like wall paper paste including the lumps. Steaks were undercooked and waiter no where to be found. Crab cakes, though full of crab meat, should be eaten in Baltimore not here. I brought in a bottle of vintage champagne (1980 Dom Perignon) for the meal. The wine steward at least knew how to open the bottle properly. The restaruant was the lowest point of an otherwise festive and happy family event in Charleston. Can not recommend this restaurant for a memorable meal.

I am a local and used to bring out of town guest here quite often. The food quality has dropped dramatically over the past few years. The last time I had the She-Crab soup, I found two miniscule pieces of crabmeat in the bottom of my cup. Enjoy the ambiance, sit outside in the courtyard but don't expect the food to bowl you over.
