JOHNS ISLAND. A strong presence for local leisure activities, Bohicket Marina lies between Kiawah and Seabrook Islands. In addition to its many docks and slips, the marina offers a variety of services for boaters and is a center for cruises, fishing expeditions, coastal tours, and other water sports. A few restaurants provide not only terrific food but great views of the marina, and a number of local shops present folks the opportunity to placate their spending urges while they browse the area.

DOWNTOWN. No trip to Charleston is complete without browsing the many booths of this open-air market. For sale is everything from local art, jewelry, clothing, and furnishings to those wonderful sweetgrass baskets that Charleston is known for. You can even watch Gullah women hand-make these top-quality treasures. NB Most merchants do not start selling their wares until 9:30am.

JOHNS ISLAND. Designed to look as if it's evolved over decades, this pedestrian-friendly center breaks the mold of cookie-cutter shopping. Occupying what was once farmlands, the complex maintains those agricultural ties, thanks to open-air markets and stands. However, food and produce aren't the only draws. Shops focusing on apparel, sporting goods, footwear, real estate, banking, art, and personal services also populate Freshfields, which links the various island communities with local history and newfound commerce.

DOWNTOWN. Enjoy the charming atmosphere of the Historic District as you stroll from store to store on one of the city's best shopping destinations. Popular retailers such as Pottery Barn, Williams-Sonoma, Abercrombie & Fitch and Ann Taylor fill storefronts, and there's also a notable section of antique galleries on the upper end of the neighborhood.

MOUNT PLEASANT. This picturesque shopping center in Mount Pleasant houses popular retailers such as Barnes and Noble, Old Navy, Bed, Bath and Beyond, Gap, and Banana Republic. Longhorn Steakhouse, Chili's Grill and Bar and On the Border are among the convenient dining options, and there's also a 16-screen movie theater on site.

NORTH CHARLESTON. As Charleston's largest shopping mall, Northwoods houses over 130 stores and is anchored by Sears, JCPenney, Dillard's, Books-A-Million and Belk. Other stores include Bath and Body Works, Charlotte Russe, Victoria's Secret, Express, Express Men, S & K Menswear and FootAction. A food court and other on-site dining options ensure that you won't be detained searching for a bite to eat.

If your answer is "yes," then you will love this 15,000 square foot mall that offers everything from affordable furniture to pre-war collectibles to china and glassware and much, much more. Located off of Hwy 17S.

DOWNTOWN. This small, upscale shopping center is located in the Historic District, convenient to many of the city's most popular sites. United Colors of Benetton, White House/Black Market, Gucci and Godiva Chocolatier are among the high-end stores available, and Charleston Place also houses the Charleston Grill and a spa.
