Set in a historic former warehouse, AW Shucks is a seafood gem. Menu selections include oysters and clams on the half shell, seafood chowder, deviled crabs, shrimp Creole, shrimp and grits, and oysters prepared several different ways. A wide selection of international beers helps to wash it all down. Opt for a table outside on the patio, which overlooks the public market.

Not impressed
I visited AW shucks in December and was truly disappointed. Nothing about the experience was positive. It was one of the worst meals I may have ever received from a restaurant. It reminded me of a frozen dinner. Starting from the watery no flavored seafood and some what still frozen vegetables. I have yet to ever return to AW shucks. There are way to many amazing restaurants to experience in Charleston.

This is a most excellent dining experience. The fried green tomatos will leave your mouth watering. Seafood at his best and in a prime location. Worth finding a parking place downtown for... you will enjoy.

Great place for oysters (just remember that they are only in season with months with an R in it!). Kick back shuck some oysters and have a cold one. This is a must do in Charleston.
