   EDITOR REVIEW:

ELIZABETH.   Now in its third – and, arguably, most attractive – location, this sharp, contemporary restaurant earns high marks from Charlotteans for its sophisticated attitude, commitment to innovative cuisine and impeccably friendly service. True to its name, the restaurant fully embraces opportunities to experiment with ingredients and techniques to craft creative dishes like coriander and orange-rubbed duck breast with Earl Grey honey orange butter sauce, pistachio-crusted trout with pineapple beurre blanc, and buttermilk-fried chicken with shallot black pepper gravy. Both the dining room and the bar are non-smoking until 9pm, when half the bar becomes smoking.

Order the specials, like the grilled beef tenderloin fillet topped with blue crab-and-caper sauce and a wasabi-panko crust. It sounds like two entrees collided in the kitchen, but the result is divine. One regular menu item not to miss is the warm goat cheese salad. Wine-poached red onions and an apricot-jalapeno vinaigrette may make it the best salad in town. (from Southern Living)
