2. Charlottesville Historic Garden Week

The Buzz -- Part of a statewide celebration of historic homes and gardens, this annual tour often includes homes located in and around the historic downtown area, especially along Emmet Street. It also includes the public garden areas on the grounds of the University of Virginia. Mr. Jefferson's beautiful Monticello gets into the act as well, hosting a range of tours and lectures during the weeklong affair. Tickets may be purchased the day of the tour from any participating properties and at designated information centers.
