7. Old Mill Room

My husband and I are professionals living in the DC area and make an annual weekend long trip to Charlottesville without the kids to celebrate our anniversary or just for a quick getaway. Lots of wonderful foodie surprises throughout Charlottesville, but every trip we are sure to make reservations at the Old Mill Room and we are never disappointed. Service is attentive and friendly. Food is most often exceptional and when not exceptional at least very, very good. I had my most memorable food experience ever there -- an heirloom tomato salad three ways. It was so simple and yet so perfect in every way -- I still dream about it years later. Guests are usually couples, wealthy parents of UVa students with and without the students, some business types and, in the fall, UVa alums in town for a football game. Wonderfully relaxed atmosphere.
