7. Market Street Wineshop & Grocery

Market Street is a gem! It has been a destination in downtown Charlottesville for over twenty years. I have been buying wine, beer and food there for the last eleven years. The selection is huge. The owner is well informed and a real member of the community. The staff is a great group of locals. often artists, writers, actors and yes oddballs. It is not a slick chain store but where is the charm in that? There are a lot of loyal customers like me and always good values. It couldn't be more "Charlottesville" or a better place to shop for wine!

I was not impressed at all by the wine selection at Market Street. Other than maybe 5-6 wines I had not previously been exposed to, the selection was meager. The staff was also not attentive and unknowledgeable when asked specific questions.
