7. Ruby Falls

Majestic Mountain Caverns in TN
Starting with a ride down an elevator you head 260ft underground into a world full of mysterious mineral formation that your imagination can run wild with. You then continue your trip on foot heading 1/2 mile directly into the mountain leaving you 1120 feet underground at the bottom of a 150ft underground waterfall. Ruby Falls by itself is worth a trip to Chattanooga, leaving a memory of an underground world one will have a hard time forgetting. Ruby Falls hosts tours during the day with groups of around 45 people with the lights turned on down in the caverns. For the slightly more adventurous, opt for the more intimate Lantern Tour with groups of 10-15, held at the end of the day when they turn the lights out down in the caverns. The Lantern Tour at Ruby Falls was the highlight of my Chattanooga, TN vacation!
