The Buzz -- The Elizabeth F. Cheney Mansion is a treat to visit, particularly during the holiday season. Decked out in holiday finery, the home is sure to boost your spirits, especially with a cookie in hand. Built in 1913, the mansion was given to the Oak Park Parks District in 1975 and today serves as a tourist attraction and event venue. The landscaped gardens are lovely throughout the year. Admission to the Holiday Open House is by donation of canned goods, with proceeds to benefit the OPRF Food Pantry. |

White, Jr. (a former student of Frank Lloyd Wright) in 1913, the Cheney Mansion was a private home until 1975, when it was donated to the Parks District. The lavishly furnished home has six bedrooms, seven baths, numerous receptions halls, and separate servants' quarters. The lovely gardens are as much a treat to stroll through as the house itself. |
