Caroling at the Ice rink |
The Buzz -- Millennium Park is a hot spot on Chicago's arts and culture scene, with concerts, dance recitals, plays, and festivals scheduled throughout the year. During the winter, McCormick Tribune Plaza gets an icy makeover, welcoming 100,000 skaters seasonally. Even if you're not an ice skater, an hour or two spent at the rink simply watching is a fun diversion. Bring your own skates if you have them, or rent a pair when you arrive. On Michigan Avenue between Washington and Madison Streets. |

It's not quite as big, but it's certainly as interesting. In fact, folks from around the globe come to "ooh" and "aah" over the Frank Gehry-designed Jay Pritzker Pavilion and BP Bridge; the interactive Crown Fountain designed by Jaume Plensa; the contemporary Lurie Garden; and Cloud Gate, the 110-ton steel sculpture designed by Anish Kapoor. |
