GOLD COAST.
Gibsons is what you would imagine a steak house to have been like during the speakeasy era. Big, aged cuts of the finest steaks, huge, ice-cold martinis, bartenders with bowties and, of course, crowds of fascinating people. Celebs and celeb wannabes make Gibson's a must-visit and a definite place to see and be seen. EL: Red Line to Clark/Division

I was there at Gobsons this year 2004 on Mother’s Day. It was a treat everybody was so nice, valet parking was a-ok, the wasters were excellent. I really enjoyed myself and am aming to go back for my birthday this month in June.

Very crowded, tables extremely close together, allowing you to hear to the conversation at the next table (including persistent profanities from the table behind, when I was there). Seemed to be set up to pack in as many customers as possible. Wait persons hustled, adding to the perception that they tried to get you in and out so they could set up for the next customers; didn't necessarily pay close attention to each table. Food: Salad was nothing special; "small" sirloin steak was very good, large portion; double baked potato was ok, but topping detracted from it; chocolate mousse pie was very good, very large portion. Doggy bags routinely provided. Prices were only ok; dinner and desert for two just over $100 plus tip. I've had better for less. Wouldn't care to go here again... it's not for me.
