WEST LOOP.
Mitchell's has been pleasing patrons since 1923 and offers diner cuisine at its best. You know you're in for an indulgent meal when you're presented with a basket of piping hot doughnut holes as soon as you walk in the door. Then you have an extensive breakfast menu to choose from, and even the oatmeal is extraordinary. Certain meals are brought to the table still steaming in the skillet. Recommended options include fried eggs, homemade Greek toast, and hash browns. Plan a post-breakfast nap because you'll leave full. EL: Blue Line to Clinton

Disgusted
Very dissapointed! Nobody met us at the door and so since there was no sign saying "wait to be seated" we seated ourselves. Later the "hostess" walked by and threw the menus on the table and she didn't offer us the basket of overdone "munchies" so I had to go up front and get our own. We waited a long time for a waitress but one finally arrived. Our food was nothing to brag about and I had to go and find a salt shaker since we didn't have one. I think this is a place with lot's of tradition but is very tired and is probably about to die.

Once a Chicago Landmark, with emphasis on quality and service, it has become a marketing gimick. They no longer have a bakery or use filtered water (despite the misleading signs). Laziness abounds, and with the exception of one server, customer service is poor. Food quality is horrible.
