Diners get a distinct New Orleans feel with a live band of fine jazz musicians that play almost every night at this popular dining spot. Selections of Cajun specialties include jambalaya and crawfish etoufée, but the real winners are Halibut Fortee, sautéed in lobster butter and garlic seasoned oysters. This place is not to be missed! Business casual attire.

GLENDALE. Named after the trains that rumble past every so often, this restaurant offers solid New American cuisine in a graceful Victorian setting. Diners can choose between the more formal downstairs room with tablecloths and richly upholstered chairs or the upstairs space, which sports the feel of a lodge and hosts jazz musicians on weekend evenings. Sumac-crusted salmon, a 6-oz. filet with gorgonzola, and a daily vegetarian special keep inn guests and townies happy. Request a seat on the patio and watch the trains go by.

Austere paneling and the formal waitstaff are punctuated by bursts of freshly cut flowers and the reflections of silver serving trays. Just adjacent to the lobby of the 113-year old Cincinnatian Hotel, the Palace serves four-star traditional cuisine along with exotic menu items such as tempura quail, tuna medallion pyramids and breast of chicken with pesto couscous. Dining with companions is the way to go here, especially with the traditional "synchronized lifting" of the serving domes. Reservations recommended. Jacket is required.

KENWOOD. Situated just across the street from an upscale mall, Trio provides a haven for weary shoppers. Copper accents and exposed brickwork lend panache to the interior. The menu holds up its end of the bargain, too; start with crispy prosciutto-crusted scallops, and then ease into a bone-in pork chop with mango-red chili glaze, or sample jumbo lump crab cakes with sweet corn sauté. Wash it all down with a specialty martini – a sweet and tart Carmel Apple is a divine liquid dessert.
