3. Stumphouse Tunnel Park & Issaqueena Falls

Disappointed
I have visited Stumphouse Tunnel many,many times over the last 40 years and July 17th,2009 was the first time the door has been padlocked so you couldn't even get to the air shaft location. Must be because of some kind of safety issue like falling rocks from the top of the tunnel. I understand that but it is still extremely disappointing after driving 45 miles to take my nephew who is visiting from Knoxville,Tenn.

On our visit to this site on 6-6-2009 we were pleasentaly suprised at what we found. At the tunnel, the door to the cheese room was opened and we were able go the the vent and look around. the site is great. To look at this place and realize what it took to get to the point they did is interresting. This considering the engineering styles and equipment of the day. Great site for kids of all ages. We also visited the falls and it was breathtaking. We were very pleased with this site, the new bridges and overlooks are very nice. Oue grand children especially liked the creek.
