About Clemson Shopping
The closest mall to Clemson is 20 minutes away in Anderson, and the most dynamic arrays of wares are probably in Greenville, more than 30 miles away. That doesn't mean, however, that you've got to head in those directions when you feel the need to spend some money. In fact, the downtown business districts of Clemson, Pendleton, and Seneca together serve up a rich variety of retailers who specialize in providing that long-lost small town commodity: service with a smile. Clemson, of course, caters more to students, and College Avenue promises no shortage of sweatshirts, used books, and Tiger-themed trinkets. In Pendleton, the focus is on more high-end gifts and antiques, and diligent shoppers are sure to sniff out a true find or two, whether it be original art or 19th century furniture. Seneca, meanwhile, offers a heady, functional mix of both worlds, and its ped-friendly Ram Cat Alley is certainly worth exploring every now and again. -- Joseph K. Hall Jr., 10Best Editor
