PENDLETON.   Perhaps one of the most popular campgrounds and recreation areas on Hartwell, Twin Lakes abuts Fant's Grove (part of the Clemson University Experimental Forest) and offers easy boat access to the lake as well as modern and primitive campsites. For day-trippers, there are mountain bike and hiking trails (some of which cross into Fant's Grove), ample areas for swimming and fishing, and even rentable picnic shelters that are ideal for family and group outings. Twin Lakes is not a state park; it falls under the auspices of the US Army Corps of Engineers.
