10Best's Clemson Events
-- Joey Hall, 10Best Travel Editor
As with most other aspects of life in Clemson and the surrounding area, the annual events calendar is wired heavily toward what's happening on campus. Sporting events, of course, grab most of the headlines, with football season dominating the fall, basketball ruling the winter, and baseball picking up the slack in the spring. But then, categorizing Clemson as a "sports-only" kind of town is unfair, for each season is categorized by its own unique cross-section things to do. The acclaimed Clemson Little Theatre, for example, picks up its season in March and runs through August, and April is the month when artists from all over converge in Pendleton for the Spring Jubilee. On campus, there's winter's Shakespeare Festival, the stellar Calhoun Lecture Series, and Tigerama and the other family-friendly events of homecoming weekend in the fall. And just in case you were worried that you might miss on a chance to savor a taste of local culture, there is late summer's world-famous celebration of all things gritty and redneck, Spittoono.
