The legendary Anderson hotdog joint opened its Clemson outpost several years back, and it's going as strong as ever. No fries, no burgers, no corndogs – just hotdogs, with or without (onions). The reason for the limited menu is quite simple: Skins serves the best blended pork and beef dogs you'll ever taste, and no matter what your appetite's like, one dog absolutely won't do! Chips and homemade cake are available as well. You're welcome to hang out as long as you want and checkout the news clippings and framed odds and ends decorating the walls, including a sign that reads, "The language you use in church is good enough to use here."

Sure, we're all familiar with the burrito-assembly factories that popped up from one corner of the US to another over the last 10 years or so, and they've certainly done their part to diversify our lunch choices. Two things make Super Taco stand out from the familiar franchises, though: it's locally owned, and they're absolutely dedicated to using the freshest available ingredients to create their tasty, Tex-Mex specialties. Best of all, they've got some of the best prices in town.

Serving tasty Szchuan, Hunan, and Cantonese specialties for both dine-in and take-out, China Express is a quick and easy off-campus favorite for students and faculty. The service is always friendly – they're quick to help first-timers or those unfamiliar with Chinese fare find something on the menu to suit their tastes – and, best of all, the prices are more than reasonable. At lunch, whether you go with the General Tso's chicken or shrimp with lobster sauce, nothing'll run you over five bucks!

CENTRAL. A notch – or two or three – above your standard Americanized Mexican fare, Pancho's in Central earns high regard because they emphasize fresh ingredients and menu items that go off and beyond the standard combinations. That's not to say that this cozy joint doesn't cook up burritos, taquitos and chimicangas because they do – they're just far tastier than what you're normally accustomed to! Outstanding margaritas and always-friendly service to boot!

CENTRAL. For an authentic touch of Italian cookery in the Clemson area, hop on Highway 93 and make your way to this cozy little cottage, located in Central. Owner-chef John Robinson trained for a year at Apicius Cooking School in Tuscany and showcases his creativity and culinary know-how in stunningly delicious renditions of rack of lamb with goat cheese and balsamic pan sauce, prawns and polenta, pumpkin and mascarpone manicotti, and handmade ravioli. Wine pairings (both Italian and American) are available for $15, and if you play cards just right, Robinson may even offer to cook up a tasty something that's not on the menu.

While regulars agree that the place's decor isn't much to write home about, they're also very quick to point out that people don't crowd this off-campus dining room time and again with aesthetics in mind. No, what brings most folks to Riviera is the eclectic fare its kitchen prepares. There are the familiar American (burgers) and Italian (pastas) dishes, to be sure, but the place really earns its stripes with the Turkish specialties. Best of all, everything's affordable.

PENDLETON. If old-fashioned Southern cookery is what you crave, this humble-yet-friendly dining room on the outskirts of Pendleton serves up just that. The servers smile and "Hey, y'all" frequently, and though regulars do get special treatment, new customers receive first class care as well. Food is doled out cafeteria-style, and, oh, what good food it is – homemade mac-n-cheese, tomatoes-n-okra, fried chicken, green beans, and so on. They serve up some awesome breakfast eats, as well; if you're up early, give Dyar's a shot then, too.

PENDLETON. You'll have to wait until Friday or Saturday night to sample Don Quattlebaum's legendary smoked 'cue but, boy, it's worth whatever hoops you have to jump through. Served buffet-style, Just Barbecue's weekend spread usually includes chopped pork and beef, and as if that wasn't enough, Don and crew also cook up a few other tasty ditties like smoked chicken quarters, baby back ribs, Brunswick stew, and Low Country Hash. To top it all off, there's homemade cobbler with softserve ice cream. Live bluegrass is a standard here, and feel comfortable to bring the entire family.

DOWNTOWN. Poll students and alumni, and chances are good the vast majority will identify Peppino's as their favorite pizza joint in town, and the long lines here at night attest to that as well! Sure, the place has arcade games, a pool table, and TVs are nice perks, but it's the thin-crust pies and fresh toppings that keep the place packed. If money's limited, you may want to go by the slice; otherwise, splurge on a medium or large and take what's leftover home – it'll definitely get eaten!

For a more upscale international dining experience, it's hard to beat the Chinese cookery available at Clemson's House of Leung. The main dining room is attractively decorated with Asian art and aquariums, and the table appointments are sharp yet casual. Morever, their take-out and lunch specials make this a popular choice for those needing to eat at the office but yearning for fried wontons, egg rolls, and shrimp fried rice.
