Top Ten - I think not
To make it short: waitresses in blue jeans…not impressive. Blue jeans and fine food (dinner service) never complement one another. Since the food was not impressive might as well. My salad was poorly arranged and did not look appetizing, dressing was good (simple vinaigrette) but the large pieces of red peppers, tomatoes and cucumber just did not make any impression. That type of arrangement would be something I would expect from my teenager – not a professional chef. For my entree I ordered the Lobster and Gnocchi dish. Gnocchi was too soft – almost mushy. The lobster was mixed in with the corn, sauce and gnocchi. Tasted good, but again – presentation completely missing. Definitely missing was also that “something” that we can find in a great restaurant. Atmosphere, creativity, surprising combinations… Since I was still in a good mood I ordered the olive oil cake with figs. I was actually excited since very recently I had a chocolate cake with olive oil and rock salt in another restaurant. It was to die for. What I got this time was two round pieces of the worst yellow cake – heavy, hard, dry and just bad. Between the two pieces of yellow cake was something that looked like thick butter frosting. I think it had some figs blended into it. I didn’t even want to taste that. Not that anyone cared. The waitress didn’t even make any gestures of interest to see why I did not touch the cake. She gave us the check and left to take care of the other customers. We paid, left and will not make another visit. Both of us agreed that this restaurant just didn’t meet our expectations. For great lasagna and salad we would go to Oggi’s in Broadview Heights
