9. Pikes Peak

"America's Mountain" is a spire that shadows Colorado Springs with magnificence and history. Named for Zebulon Pike who tried unsuccessfully to conquer it, the Peak inspired Katharine Lee Bates to write "America the Beautiful" after a visit. The Peak can be admired from anywhere in the Springs area, and an hour or so drive up to the summit is a great way to experience it first hand.   (© 10Best)
