Check 10Best for Available Tickets » The Buzz -- The "Race to the Clouds" is an annual automobile race on Pikes Peak, held July 4th. The finish line is 14,110 feet above sea level. Pre-race events begin the last week in June. The first race was held in 1916. Although the race starts at 9:30am, the road is only open 4am-8am, so you must arrive very early; there is no way off the mountain once the race has started, so expect to stay until late afternoon or early evening. |
