DOWNTOWN. The Pioneer Museum is a nationally awarded institution that presents the history and culture of the Pikes Peak Region to tens of thousands of visitors yearly. Housed in an elegant and historical building (the former El Paso County Courthouse – 1903), the museum's collection of over 40,000 objects is made up of nationally significant quilts, pottery, art, writings, and Native American objects.

Situated adjacent to Colorado's famed Broadmoor hotel, El Pomar Carriage House Museum features displays of antique horse-drawn carriages, vintage cars, even a Conestoga wagon. Also included are two presidential carriages, ornate saddles, Native American artifacts, and other transportation-related paraphernalia.

For over 80 years the May Center has traveled the world to create what is today considered one of the greatest collections of the world's most beautiful and unique insects from the world's tropical areas. The collection includes over 100,000 specimens, 8000 of which are exhibited at any given time. Giant tropical insects are featured, like the 17 inch New Guinea stick insect or the nine inch scorpion from Congo, as well as other related items. Located off of Highway 115, 15 minutes from downtown.

OLD COLORADO CITY. Experience the story of Colorado's first capital. After a period of revitalization, this historic district thrives today as a center of arts and commerce. Learn about the interesting history of this unique place where, at one time, saloons and places of mischief were separated from churches by only the width of a city street, and tunnels were built underneath those streets allowing patrons to frequent either unassumingly. Exhibits and artifacts are on display, and free tours are available.

The evolution of rodeo from a working lifestyle to a world-class sport is experienced through art exhibits, rodeo and cowboy gear and memorabilia, live rodeo animals, gardens, videos, and a rodeo store. Located off I-25, about 10 minutes from Downtown.
